TEMPEST IN A TV

We have TV on the boat.

Carol was so excited.  I mounted our new DC powered 20" flat screen on a bulkhead (that's what we call a wall on a boat) and fired it up.  No antenna yet, but this baby has a BUILT IN DVD player, so she inserted Harry Potter.  I think it was the first one about a stone (philosopher or sorcerer depending on your country of origin).  She squealed with delight at finally having modern conveniences on Sea Bird.

Then, all was quiet.

This was a clue.

There was a defect in the screen.  Right in the middle of the screen,  Well, not exactly, but close enough that it could not be forever ignored was a Great Red Spot.  Just like the one on Jupiter, at least proportionately so.

I don't really remember the size of the Great Red Spot from my days misspent (not) trying to learn things in school, but I do remember that you can fit some numbers of the planet Earth in there.  And that it is a relatively insignificant spot considering the entire surface area of Jupiter.

Same thing here,  It was not a great deal, taken in it's totality.

Still, it can't be ignored.  And because it is on Earth, not Jupiter, something must be done about it.

So, we have ordered another TV and made arrangements to have this one returned.  Crisis solved, we went today to see the new Transformers movie.  Carol declared it good.  I am never sure who is fighting who (its a color thing).

Did I mention we are back at the boat?  We are.
